You will be given a weekly task to respond to lessons you’ve learnt that you can upload and share with the Aardman Academy through a dedicated online community.

TERMS

These terms are important and you should read them carefully. They set out how Aardman Animations Limited (‘Aardman’, ‘us’, ‘we’) provide Aardman Academy (‘Academy’) courses, services and content to you (‘Services’), and your agreement to pay for Services and follow other requirements about how we provide Services (‘agreement’). They tell you about us, how you can cancel the agreement, what to do in case of a problem and how the agreement ends.  If you have any questions about anything in these terms, please contact [email protected].

1. ABOUT US

1.1 Aardman is a limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 02050843 and have our registered office at Gas Ferry Road, Bristol, BS1 6UN. Our VAT number is GB609301172.

2. OUR AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE SERVICES

2.1 If we offer you a place on an Academy course, an agreement to provide the course and related Services is made when we receive payment of your course fees. We will only offer, and you must accept, Academy course places through the Academy website. We will notify you of receipt of your payment.

2.2 The agreement is made on the basis of these terms and any others we notify to you when we offer you a place on an Academy course.

2.3 As an Academy course student you will receive tuition from Aardman experts in film and animation. We will deliver Academy courses and Services using the best of our knowledge and experience and according to the course descriptions published on the Academy website.

2.4 We will perform the agreement using our staff and independent contractors who work for us. We may need to transfer our performance of the agreement to another organisation that carries on the Academy business, and we will notify you if this happens and ensure that your rights under the agreement are unaffected.

3. PARTICIPATING IN A COURSE

3.1 All Academy courses are currently delivered using the internet. 

3.2 You must follow our policies for Academy course participation (‘Academy policies’), which are designed to ensure the smooth running of Academy courses, ensure respect for all course participants and keep everyone involved safe online.

3.3 Academy courses will be conducted in English. We ask that you meet the criteria for a “Proficient user” in English (as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in order to get the most out of the course.

4. CERTIFICATION

4.1 Where, in our reasonable opinion, you successfully complete an Academy course, we will provide you with a certificate of completion.

4.2 The Aardman Academy is not a university, college or higher or further education institution and its courses are not accredited or recognised by any such institution.

5. RIGHT TO CANCEL

5.1 You have the right to cancel the agreement and your Academy course place within 14 days of the date on which we notify you of receipt of your payment of the course fees. 

5.2 If you notify us of cancellation within 14 days of the agreement’s commencement we will fully refund the course fees you have paid to us, but if your notification is received after we have started performing Services, we will refund your course fees after deducting a reasonable amount reflecting the Services that we have performed.

5.3 To cancel, contact us through the Academy website or by email to [email protected]. You can use the form in section 14 if you like.

6. THE COURSE FEES

6.1 You are responsible for payment of Academy course fees, which must be made by Paypal through the Academy website. We will only confirm your place on an Academy course when we receive payment of course fees.

6.2 You will need to use or set up a PayPal account which will be subject to PayPal’s terms and conditions (which can be found at  https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full).

6.3 Any refund of fees will be made to your PayPal account in Pounds Sterling. Aardman is not liable for any shortfall due to exchange rate fluctuations and does not offer compensation for any bank charges incurred.

7. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A COURSE

If you become ill or are otherwise unable to participate in an Academy course, please contact us by [email protected] and we will try to reschedule your Academy course participation if we can. We can only do this if we have availability on similar courses in the future, and we may not be able to reschedule at all. We cannot offer any refunds of course fees unless you have canceled as set out in section 5.

8. CHANGES TO ACADEMY COURSES AND THIS AGREEMENT

8.1 We will sometimes need to change the timing, content and delivery of Academy courses, or the terms of the agreement; and we will let you know if this happens.

8.2 If we need to make a major change to an Academy course or the agreement you will be entitled to terminate the agreement and we will refund course fees to you (or, where a course has already begun, in a reasonable proportion based on the course and Services that have been provided).

9. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH AN ACADEMY COURSE

Please contact us at [email protected] if you experience any problems with our Services, your Academy course or have any concerns about the agreement. If we have not performed Services according to the terms of the agreement we will re-perform them or, if that is not possible, refund some of the course fees you have paid.

10. ENDING THE AGREEMENT

We may end the agreement and terminate your participation in an Academy course if:

10.1 You notify us that you no longer wish to participate in an Academy course. Except as set out in section 5, we do not offer any refunds of course fees if you do this;

10.2 You break any really important term of any Academy policy;

10.3 In the case of less important terms of Academy policies, you have been notified by us on more than two occasions of a failure to follow Academy policies;

10.4 If we have agreed that course fees may be paid after an Academy course starts, where you fail to pay course fees when due. 

11. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPENSATE YOU

11.1 If we do not comply with our responsibility to provide you with an Academy course or other Services, we will be responsible for your loss or damage that is an obvious consequence of our failure, up to the value of the course fees you paid.

11.2 We are not responsible for:

11.2.1 any losses or damage that you suffer not described in section 11.1;

11.2.2 any business losses; or

11.2.3 for any matter that is outside our reasonable control.

12. INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

We use the information about you that you provide to us, in order to deal with your application for an Academy course, to provide courses and Services to you and to perform this agreement, as described in our privacy policy https://academy.aardman.com/privacy-notice .

13. ENFORCING THE AGREEMENT

13.1 Only you and us can enforce the agreement.

13.2 The agreement is subject to English law and disputes about it are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. You can also use an online dispute resolution service.
